What are good yearly goals at work?

I already read a lot about programming and work on open source projects in my spare time. But that's not very measurable as a concrete goal.

There's nothing I specifically need for work. I know the technologies well enough to do my job without trouble.

So I guess I am looking for something that I'd do like to do anyway, then frame it as a career goal. (No certification, it's a waste of time.)

Some things I thought of, but am doubtful about:

  • Read at least X books on programming.
  • Create project X (e.g. open source) in spare time.
  • Learn technology X (it'd be mostly unrelated, I already know the relevant ones).
  • Suggest X improvements for the product.
  • Some non-technical goal? Mentoring or something?
