Will I get get placed after ending my studies? Will I get a good enough salary at my first job?

Well many of us must have had these questions going through our minds when we are in our colleges. Especially for the students from tier 3 and tier 2 colleges these questions are a source of fear of sorts. Our society is also of the type which will ridicule us for our unemployment.

So, in these circumstances many might have the thought, Is my preparation enough to land a good job? or How can I prepare to be certain of landing a job after graduation?

Let me answer these questions. I'll be taking into consideration what all are compulsory for placement and leave other supplementary skills development to yourself.

Core Subjects

Data Base Management System, Operating System, Computer Organisation and Architecture (some companies ask questions on this too), Computer Networking (this too required by some companies and not all), etc. Everyone seeking employment should have a good grasp of these topics as they are asked in interviews both on-campus and off-campus.

Data Structures and Algorithms

This field is important as well. Almost every big company has coding round in their interviews and interviewers who'll ask you about DSA. They'll ask you to write the code right in front of them on paper. In such cases the more efficient code you write the better you'll score. So practice well on Competitive Programming platforms like CodeChef , TopCoder , Codeforces , etc. for coding round experience of thinking under pressure. And practice on Leetcode to learn writing efficient codes.

Aptitude

Building up your aptitude also plays a role in interviews. Nowadays this topic has become compulsory in all interviews. You can build your aptitude skills by solving questions. These questions may look too basic and easy to some but many get stuck in these during their interviews. You can practice via solving questions from Indiabix, CareerRide and other similar sites.

Other Skills

As mentioned earlier I won't say much in this topic as everyone has prepared for different posts and have acquired different skills. Some may know web dev, some app dev or some may even have learnt about cyber security or something else. All I'll tell you is that no matter which skill stack you have decided on building do some projects via using those as well. It's not always necessary that you build something from scratch. You can even fork a repository from Github and just add some extra features to them. In the end add only those projects in your resume for which you are confident in answering any questions asked on them.

PS: Hope that this article helps you all. And all the best for your interviews!
