With High resolution screens nowadays, it seems following the 80 characters limit per code line convention , not only has nothing to serve the purpose, but also keeps either writing or reading of the program cumbersome.
Do you still follow the tradition, in regard to IBM punch card(RIP!)?!
Please share any kinda tricks you think would be helpful to others in the comments. e.g. configuring Code Editor, breaking line...

Our ancient developer used <a target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer' href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card">punch cards</a> for programming. And the most used cards of this type was <a target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer' href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card#IBM_80-column_punched_card_format_and_character_codes">IBM punch card</a>s which had 80 columns width (1 character / column), thus having a width of 80 chars.
Things changed &amp; computer systems got smaller. Remember DOS screen? If no, you can have it back on your computer screen ( To do so, If you are on MS-Windows, Bring up the Terminal: <code>win Key + R</code>, then type <code>cmd</code> into the dialogue box ). You can double check that the screen is 80 characters width, by default ( which has filled up only a fraction of your whole monitor ). This is because of historical reasons.
Those days developers used to keep a limit of 80 characters for code lines, to avoid hiding characters at first snapshot. So, it became an unwritten law among developers. Then with appearance of much better operating systems (like MS-Windows 98 , ...), because screen resolutions were high enough, this tradition survived again!!!
But nowadays, with large screens &amp; extremely high resolutions, some(if not majority) of developers still tend to follow the rule, leaving a notable portion of screen unused (Vacant!). We can pull the limit higher( I think 120 would be OK), making life of developers struggling with line width, justifying code in 80 columns, daily, easier !!
