Starting your own business as a developer or single parent

I'm a single parent with my daughter part time in nursery so I roughly get 15 hours a week but it can be varied. I've just found out that my daughters nursery is full now for full time hours and so leaves me in an awkward position trying to get a full time position.

Logistically it's just not possible for another nursery or a private childcare person, and so i'm left with a limited choice for wanting to work.

I'm sure if there's any other parent developers here, you feel the catch 22 on childcare costs.. The only last chance for me to get into work now is by running my own self employed business in web development.

Just wondered if anyone else has made the jump and risk into this? Did it work out for you in the end? Did you manage to make a stable enough profit to keep going?
