how i went from 4.8 lpa(inr) to salary hike of 16 lpa(inr) (hike of 200%)after a switch.
2 months back i was not looking for the job. But my relatives made fun of me & my engineering degree due to low salary. That's when i decided i have to prove them wrong. So, here's how i shifted gears and went from 4.8 to 16lpa in 2 months.
I am in the software development from past 3 years. Was working for a startup as a react native developer. Before switching job or giving inteviews i decided to wait for a month since i was about to get a hike. Novemember 2021 I got a 15% hike ie. now my ctc was 5.5 lpa.
Now i started giving interviews. Created a portfolio website. Added some cool animations and Applied rigorously on cutshort, LinkedIn, Indeed. Got a call from about 10 companies. Out of which got rejected in first 2. Now i knew what the interviewer expects from the applicants. Now. I started preparing core JS concepts along with React/React Native concepts. Almost all of companies questions were focused on core js concepts than dsa.
After couple of rejections First company i got selected had agreed to offer the package of 9 lpa. I was ready to accept the offer. But Since it was not remote job i started looking for new opportunities.
Got a another interview. After 4 rounds got selected. They asked me my expectation I said 10lpa. So they came up with offer of 14 lpa (11 lpa fixed, 3lakhs as esop and bonus). Again i was about to accept the offer. But again since the job was not remote i kept giving interviews.
On LinkedIn saw an international job opportunity But the package they were offering was of 10 lpa. And since it was remote I decided to give a shot. Got selected for senior position. They were very much impressed in the interview. That's what the hr said. Now I played my card. I told them i have an offer of 14 lpa and if the company is ready to offer that much i am ready to accept the offer. I shared my offer letter with them.
After two days got a call from the hr. They said they are ready to give 16 lpa fixed salary. Thats how i decided to accept the offer.
Last but not the least I would like to thanks my relative If the person did not made fun of me and my engineering degree. I would have stayed in my comfort zone. And i guess never would have reached so far.
That's it guys Hope my post have added some value in your life. If i can do it you can do it too.
