Madam C.J. Walker was the first self-made female millionaire. She acquired this wealth by selling hair products for African American women in the early 20th century. Since then, products and attention for African hair textures have grown tremendously.

When thinking of an idea for a DAO, I wanted to create something I'd want to exist. I love learning about black history and I am proud of my hair texture. While attending a Historically Black University (HBCU), I realized that there are so many other black people who have the same attitude towards their hair and celebrate it.

In 2018, I attended NC A&T's first Durag Day (spot me in the top right with the chrome durag and NC A&T sweater on). It was a great day and made me feel proud of having this hairstyle that has been worn by black people since the birth of civilization. Since then, I've gotten to know tons of people who are deep into hair care from influencers to entrepreneurs.

This was the inspiration for DuragDAO: A community of people who are proud of their hair and want to work together for business and personal care purposes.

Built by using the Thirdweb SDK, DuragDAO is essentially a community with a shared bank account. In the DuragDAO, members can mint a membership NFT and contribute to our treasury by purchasing $RAG tokens. A member can earn $RAG by submitting reviews on hair care products, evangelizing natural hair businesses on social media, and referring natural hair influencers and entrepreneurs to join us. The community will invest in natural hair education, natural hair entrepreneurship, and community events like the one pictured above for anyone who is passionate about this underserved space.

Web3 gives communities the ability to be stronger than ever before, and the concept of DuragDAO is something that I would really like to be a part of. Thanks for reading my submission for the Thirdweb X Hashnode hackathon, and I am available to answer any questions!
