Do you have the "I want to learn to do everything" syndrome? What is its root?

Good afternoon devs!

Since I got into self-taught I always had this problem with wanting to learn everything. I started with Photoshop and manipulating photos. I did that for a few weeks then I got really interested in 3d programs like blender and I created some low-poly scenes and I enjoyed that for half a year. After a while, filmmaking showed up in my newsfeed and of course, I wanted to become a filmmaker! And between these, I had moments when I wanted to learn something else. I've been learning HTML, CSS, and Javascript since January 2018 and I'm really enjoying it. But now I want to learn other technologies like React, Node.JS and I don't fully understand Javascript yet.

I know that this is a problem of discipline as I figured it lately and if I want to be a self-taught developer I should focus on what matters and avoid jumping from language to language, project to project. Besides, I think this problem also comes from the fact that I don't have a goal for myself. Is it because I am chasing money? Because I do, I want to get a little richer to have a decent life, but what then? After I have some money, I bet I'll want a little bit more and still be unhappy because who knows what. A couple of questions people like me would like to see answers for.

  1. how do you deal with this syndrome of wanting to try everything?
  2. What are some goals of yours? What do you want to achieve? Do you want to be known for creating something other people use?
  3. Is money even important for you? Do you have enough so you can focus on your goals? Do your goals require money or time?
  4. Are you a self-taught person? Did you go to college?
  5. ( The cliche one ) What advice would you give your younger self?

Thank you very much for your attention and happy prospering!
